The best gifts for women skiers are the ones for the hours off the slopes, because she already has the technical kit she trusts: a fox-fur hat for après, velvety fur earmuffs or a down jacket with a fur collar for the walk into the village. Add one genuinely useful thing, such as merino ski socks or a guided day with a mountain guide, and you have a gift she will use all week.
Skiers are particular. She knows exactly which goggles fog and which gloves leak, and she is unlikely to want you choosing her helmet. What she rarely buys for herself is the glamorous side of a ski holiday, and that is where your gift comes in.
What makes a good gift for a woman who skis?
A ski week has two halves. There are the hours on the mountain, when performance kit matters and style comes second. And there are the hours around them: the lift queue, the terrace lunch, the walk back through the village at dusk, après, dinner, the chalet. Those hours are where she wants to look wonderful.
So the best gifts either make the first half more comfortable or the second half more beautiful. Ideally both.

Practical gifts every skier appreciates
If you want something functional, these are hard to get wrong:
- Merino ski socks. Thin, warm and they do not smell after a long day. Every skier can use another pair.
- Rechargeable hand warmers. Small, reusable and a gift on the coldest chairlifts.
- A goggle case or a spare lens. Only if you know her goggles.
- A day with a guide or a private lesson. An off-piste day, or a session to fix one thing in her technique. An experience she will remember longer than any object.
- A beautiful boot bag. Practical, and nicer than the one she has.
The après-ski gifts she will love most
This is where real fur comes into its own. A ski resort is one of the few places where a fur hat looks completely natural, from Verbier to Val d’Isère to St. Anton.
A fox-fur hat for the village
Our Svalbard Hat is built for exactly this. A thick ring of fox fur surrounds a panelled crown, with a quilted lining inside. At the back there is a strap with a metal buckle and two fine cords finished with fur pompoms. It sits low and wide, with the brim at the eyebrow, and it covers the ears completely.

It comes in Black, Natural, Pink, Silver and White. White in the snow is pure old-school glamour; Silver looks wonderful with a navy or black ski jacket. For the full guide, see our après-ski hat guide.
Earmuffs for the walk home
If she prefers something lighter, the Halo Earmuffs are rex rabbit: short, dense, velvety fur with no long guard hairs. The thick band and the cups are one continuous piece, and the cups cover the whole ear. They fold small, so they live in a jacket pocket for the evening walk. We compare them with headbands in après-ski earmuffs and headbands.
A jacket for the chalet and the village
For a bigger gift, the Nordlys Down Jacket is a quilted jacket filled with 90% duck down, cut to the hip, with frog buttons, a narrow mink trim down the front and a large, round fox collar that detaches. It is the jacket for arriving at the resort, for the terrace and for the walk to dinner, not for skiing.

Can fur handle snow and mountain weather?
Fox is the most forgiving fur for the mountains. Its long guard hairs let falling snow sit on the surface, and a gentle shake removes it. The Fur Institute of Canada notes that fur with plenty of guard hairs need not fear the rain, and its advice for wet fur is simple: shake it, hang it in a ventilated room away from heat, and never use a hair dryer.
Rabbit, rex rabbit and mink are happier kept out of heavy wet snow; the fur house Yves Salomon advises more protection from moisture for rabbit and keeping mink out of the rain. If she is caught in a downpour, the hat dries on a shelf in the room, never on the boot-room radiator. You can read more on our fox fur page.
Outfit formulas for après-ski
Put one of these in the card, so she can picture it:
- Straight off the slopes. Ski jacket unzipped, ski trousers, snow boots, and the Svalbard Hat in place of the helmet. The fastest après transformation there is.
- Terrace lunch. A chunky roll-neck, slim ski trousers, sunglasses, and the hat in White or Silver.
- Evening in the village. A long wool coat, dark jeans, après boots and the hat in Black. Add earmuffs if it is snowing hard.

The gift we would give a skier
If you buy one thing, make it the Svalbard Hat. It is rated 4.9 by 43 customers, it costs €169, and it is the piece that makes every photograph from the trip. It covers the ears for the cold walk back from dinner, and it turns a technical ski jacket into an outfit the moment the helmet comes off.
Choose the colour by her ski jacket: White or Silver with dark jackets, Black with bright ones.
Ordering in time for the trip
We prepare orders in 1 to 3 business days, and complimentary tracked delivery to the UK, the EU and Switzerland takes 5 to 12 business days. For Christmas, order in the first days of December; for a February half-term trip, three weeks ahead is plenty.
At checkout, tick “This order is a gift”, add your message and her email, and we will email your note to her as soon as the parcel is on its way. She has 14 days to return it. More gift ideas are in our Gift Edit.
